The daily service will commence on 1st July 2008 and operate from Bahrain to take advantage of two-way connectivity to many major markets within the region. The route will be operated by using an Airbus A320-200, offering two-class service business and economy. Hyderabad service will become the eight online destination for Gulf Air in India and it will increase total India frequencies to 68 weekly or 11,500 seats per week, said Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Björn Näf.
India as one of the key countries for Gulf Air
«India is one of the key countries that we are looking at to expand and grow as part of our strategy to be the airline of choice,» says Mr. Näf. In addition to the daily Hyderabad, Gulf Air operates to Mumbai, Delhi, Trivandrum, Madras, Bangalore, Cochin and Calcutta. «Being the first regional carrier to operate flight to India, our infrastructure set up in the country is very well established and our preparations are well underway to commence Hyderabad operation.»
More than 500 flights per week in the region
Gulf Air’s Vice President Network Hashim Mahmood reiterated that the daily Bahrain-Hyderabad service along with the planned schedule to other Indian points will be the, «most adequate to fulfill our customer needs.» «The two-way traffic between the region and India has grown tremendously and our revamped network offers better connection times, which will be an added advantage for Gulf Air customers.» Gulf Air launched a new revamped network in July 2007, which offers more than 500 flights per week in the region.
